Stitching Science: Collaborative Crochet Cell

In this project I worked with researchers at the Gurdon Institute to
create a series of activities using crochet to engage the public with cell science.

I created a giant crochet cell which we took to events such as the Cambridge Festival of Ideas and local yarn festivals. I also produced resources for participants to crochet their own cells from home.

Members of the public were invited to crochet mitochondria to add to the giant cell, producing a co-created cell blanket that brought to life the unseen word that exists within all of us.
